HYDRA 65 SY
The HYDRA 65 SY is intended as a high performance light displacement cruising yacht with comfort.
Below the waterline, the moderate stern sections, fine angle of entrance, long waterline, carefully selected SA/disp & disp/LWL ratios, high aspect ratio bulb keel and rudder will provide a fast, comfortable and fun to sail yacht with good all-round performance.
Construction will be in carbon-sandwich to improve performance with a rig package also in carbon fibre with park avenue boom. This will support a high AR mainsail and 110% genoa with a large gennaker flown from a bow-sprit for added off-wind performance.
Above the waterline HYDRA YD have created a sleek, simple and elegant design which works in harmony with the hull shape. This hull surface rolls up onto the deck to provide a beautiful painted sheerline capping on deck contrasting with the teak deck surface.
The large cockpit is divided into a crew working area aft and protected guest area forward for less confusion on deck and easier yacht handling. With twin helm stations providing excellent visibility on deck and the main winches close at hand, this will provide a comfortable and easy yacht to sail. The guest area boasts a large relaxation / dining area and while at anchor a sun pad area with undisturbed transom views aft of the helm stations can be enjoyed. Easy access is provided from this area to a bathing platform which is formed by an opening section of the transom which also reveals the tender stowage area in the lazarette.
Below deck there are a plethora of interior options, ranging from an Owner’s version with large aft Owner’s cabin + two guest cabins + crew cabin to chartering options with four large guest cabins. Throughout all options the emphasis is towards comfort onboard the yacht.
Descending from the cockpit, the centre focus of the yacht is the large raised saloon which will be illuminated with plenty of natural light to offer a relaxed comfortable area to relax & dine and undertake navigation duties. Descending further aft onboard the Owner’s version, the yacht opens up into a large spacious Owner’s cabin boasting a large bed, sofa area, vanity desk, separate dressing room and to Port a large comfortable bathroom. Furthermore, large hull portlights will provide natural light to the cabin and beautiful sea views.
Forward of the saloon area to Starboard is located the galley area which enjoys natural light from the raised saloon area and easy access to this area and also the cockpit, this will simplify life onboard for the crew. Opposite to Port is guest cabin 2 which can be used as a double or twin cabin and enjoys the use of an ensuite bathroom. Further forward is another huge guest cabin with large bed, sofa, vanity desk and ensuite with portlights offering natural light and sea views. An optional crew area as shown on the plans can also be incorporated at the bow with separate head.
In addition to interiors, technical spaces such as the engine room are comfortable with plenty of space and ease of access below the raised saloon. Additionally stowage spaces are incorporated either side of the engine room offering excellent areas for batteries, tanks and general stowage in a low position of the yacht for improved sailing performance.
Summarising, the HYDRA 65 SY is intended as a semi-custom, fast, comfortable, cruising yacht with sleek & elegant styling and comfortable feel-good interiors. An interesting option for private or charter use in the 20m market.
